Apple Pie Pizza

Apple Pie Pizza is a fun and simple alternative to traditional apple pie with premade pie crust topped with fresh apples and brown sugar streusel then drizzled with caramel sauce.
Pro Tip
Since this recipe doesn’t use much sugar, it is best with sweet and flavorful apples like Gala or Honeycrisp. If using more tart apples, like Granny Smith, increase the sugar to 1/2 cup.
Pie crust dough with fluted edges

Premade pie crust is unrolled onto a baking pan then the edges are folded up and crimped to form a border to hold in all the apple filling.

A fun and simple alternative to traditional apple pie with premade pie crust topped with fresh apples and brown sugar streusel then drizzled with caramel sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 refrigerated pie crust, thawed to room temperature

  • 4 cups chopped apples, about 5 small apples

  • 1/3 cup sugar

  • 3 tablespoons flour

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • For the Streusel
  • 1/2 cup flour

  • 1/3 cup quick cooking oats

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar

  • 4 tablespoons cold butter, cut into 1/2 inch cubes

  • Optional
  • 1/3 cup store-bought or homemade caramel sauce

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 F. Line a baking pan or pizza pan with parchment paper.
  • Unroll the thawed pie crust onto the parchment paper. Working around the outer edge, fold up about 1/2 inch of the dough and crimp to shape.
  • In a large bowl, add apples, sugar, flour, and cinnamon then toss until the apples are well coated.
  • In another bowl, add streusel ingredients then work in butter cubes with a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture has a coarse texture.
  • Spoon the apples evenly over the shaped pie crust then sprinkle with the prepared streusel topping.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes, until the pie crust and streusel topping are golden brown. Cool slightly then drizzle with caramel sauce, if using.

Notes
